FAQ

  • What is a BER Certificate?

A Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate rates your home's energy performance on a scale between A and G. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient while G-rated are the least energy efficient.

  • Why do I need a BER Certificate?

A BER certificate is compulsory for all homes available for rent or sale. Check the SEAI National BER Register to see if your property already has a valid BER certificate, to download the BER certificate and advisory report or to review further details of the BER of a property being advertised. You will also be able to see the BER expiry date.

  • How long does a BER Certificate last?

    It lasts 10 years.

  • Is GreenBER registered to complete BER assesments?

BER assessments are carried out on your home by SEAI registered BER assessors. There is a list of assessors available on www.seai.ie

  • What happens during the BER assesment?

We will need your MPRN number and access to all rooms in the house for about 45 minutes. The assessor will then submit their calculations to SEAI who will then issue the BER certificate soon after. Payment is required up-front.
